Who I'll be writing tonight

First — the two names. Everything I do tonight starts with these.
Exactly as you'd want it written down.
Exactly as you say it.
DD / MM / YYYY
If you don't know his, write “unknown.” I'll work from his name and your description of him instead.

The real version

Now — where things stand tonight. Not the version you give people when they ask. The real one.
Which of these is closest to how things stand with you tonight?
How long has it been since the two of you really spoke?
How long have you been in each other's lives?
Is there anyone else in his life that makes you uneasy?
Write it as close to how it actually went as you can. One line is fine.

Where it started

Now I need you to go back. This is the part most women find hardest, and it's the part I care about most.
Not the argument you remember. The moment after it — when you reached for him and something in him wasn't there. Where were you? What was he doing? What did he say, or not say? What did you notice that you told yourself you hadn't noticed? Take your time with this one — the more precisely you can put me in the room, the more precisely I can work.
Work, money, his family, his friends, an ex, something from his past — anything that was pressing on him. Even if you're not sure it mattered.
Gone cold, then come back? What happened the last time — how long did it last, and what did it take to turn around?

The things you don't say

This next part is harder. Nobody is reading this but me. Take your time.
The one that arrives when the house is quiet and nobody's watching you.
Not the version you tell your friends. The one you don't.
Since this started, what have you caught yourself doing that you wouldn't recognise?
Who knows how much this is actually affecting you?
Has he ever made you feel unsafe, or have you been afraid of what he might do?
Has he ever made you feel unsafe, or have you been afraid of what he might do? If you answer yes, I'll come back to you personally before anything else happens tonight.

The other side of it

That's the hard part done. This next bit is easier. It's also, honestly, my favourite part of any intake.
Write it exactly as you'd want to hear it. His voice, not yours.
It's six months from now, and it's fixed. Completely. Nothing is being worked on anymore — it's just done, and it's ordinary. It's a Tuesday. Nothing special is happening. Tell me what the two of you are doing. Where are you? What's he doing? What can you hear? What can you smell? What's on in the background? Don't write what you want to happen. Write what it looks like once it's already happened. The boring details are the ones I want — the mug, the noise, whose side of the bed, what he does with his hand when he's not thinking about it.
Where do you want this to end up?
Be as specific as you can. "Him back" is the easy answer — I want to know what would actually be different. What would he be doing? What would you stop doing? Whatever you write here is the intention I set into the wax tonight.
Beliefs, faith, anything that would make this feel wrong to you. Anything at all.

What I look at first

Two last things, and then I'll leave you alone.
If I could sit down with one thing for you — properly, no time limit — which would you want me to look at first?
